Photos on Twitter Desktop Now Uncropped

Twitter has revamped the desktop version of the homepage to look more like the Instagram timeline. Now, tweets that include photos can be viewed at full size without cropping. Previously, Twitter users had to press the photo first, to be able to see it in its entirety.

“This view is now available on the web. Do you see that the image display now looks better? Yes, that’s how it looks on your timeline,” Twitter wrote in a tweet.

Although it has changed, the placement of the Home, Explore, Notifications, Messages, Bookmarks, Lists, and Profile icons remains on the left side. Likewise, the blue Twitter logo is still on the top left.

With this new look, Twitter users who want to upload photos in portrait format, don’t have to worry about their content being cut off if it appears on the timeline. However, if more than one portrait size photo is uploaded, it still looks the same, which is like a collage that combines the two photos.

This new look has previously been available for Twitter application users on Android and iOS mobile phones since early May 2021.

For the mobile application version, the tweets that appear on the Timeline also seem to fill the frame, without any empty space on the left. At first glance, it looks similar to the mobile version of the Instagram timeline. This change is the most distinguishing between the appearance of Twitter now with the old version.
